Becca came through NYC after the release of her EP and we played a show at The Metropolitan Room. The set opened with one of my original tunes, Birdland Baby, and then proceeded into a great mix of standards and some of Becca’s original music. As always, we had just as much fun rehearsing as we did performing and are looking forward to when our paths will cross again!
We celebrated the release of the first trio album with a concert at The Duplex. The album, Six PM, has eight of my original tunes. You can purchase a physical copy, stream it on Spotify, or find it on iTunes!
It was a blast working with Jason and Dimitri on this project. From rehearsing to recording to performing, we enjoyed every moment!
UGC Spring Concert: May 9th, 2014
The Island and The Whale Recording Session: March 29th, 2014
Katy Haas hired me to compose the score to her documentary on the whaling industry in Iceland, “The Island and The Whale”. We had a great day recording in March and the film is currently being submitted for festivals and being shown in small screenings in the Northeast.
One of the great things about the UGC is that after we rehearse, we have people come and perform for us! The Andrew Tyson Trio gave a preview of our CD release concert for the UGC guys in April and had a blast!
Rebecca Holtz made it down to the city to perform a set of jazz standards with the trio. It’s always a blast to perform with Rebecca and we’re already looking forward to the next time.
Our accordion player couldn’t make it this year so I played the melodica to give Zut Alors a little more of that Parisian flare. It was a blast to only worry about one hand instead of two!
UGC Spring Concert: May 11th, 2013
After playing together on and off for over a year, The Andrew Tyson Trio played it’s first public show at The Duplex. With Dimitri Moderbacher on bass and Jason Holmes on drums, we played a set of my original music and jazz standards.
Vanity Fair Event at Keens: September 13th, 2012
I’m always happy to get a call from Vanity Fair looking for piano music for one of their events! This time I played several hours of jazz standards for a company cocktail hour and meal at Keens Steakhouse. It was a great to play in a room steeped with so much history!
Bastille Day: July 14th, 2012
UGC Spring Concert: May 5, 2012
UGC Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall: April 9th, 2011
I was hired to play the piano during a cocktail party staged by Selling New York. If you can dig up the video, I appear in season 4, episode 20 during an episode entitled Creative Tactics. (I haven’t had success finding a legal way to stream the show, otherwise I’d link to it here!)
UGC Winter Concert: January 7th, 2012
Bastille Day at Burdick Chocolate: July 14th, 2011
Smith College with Laura Ault: March 31st 2011
This time Laura and I went up to Smith College for a show. We played a nice evening set on their campus and had a great time talking with some of the students after. Check out Laura on ReverbNation!
I released my first album on my 30th birthday! The album, Just Under the Surface, contains seven original piano pieces and the release concert was held at The Duplex. You can purchase a physical copy of the album from my Square site, you can download it from iTunes, and you can stream it on Spotify.
I was fortunate enough to start off the new year working with singer/songwriter Laura Ault. Our first out of town gig was up at Boston College. We braved a snow storm, had a great time playing the show, and even managed to sell a few CDs.
Holiday Party for New York SportsMed: December 17th, 2010
‘Tis the season! This time the cocktail piano set was for a corporate holiday party in a great building just south of Union Square.
Holiday Party at Trump Place: December 10th, 2010
One of the great part about playing music in NYC is that you never know who will wind up hiring you or where you’ll wind up playing. This was a fun holiday party for great people with a great view.
Vanity Fair & Bloomingdales Event: October 14th, 2010
I was thrilled to land my first piano gig in NYC not even two weeks after moving to town. Vanity Fair contacted me to play their Check it Out exhibit at Bloomingdales. I even make an appearance in a few of the event photos by Patrick McMullan.
Ken Burns & Florentine Films: September 2010
I was asked to compose music for The Roosevelts. The producers liked what I played them and purchased four of the tunes. They didn’t make the final cut for the documentary, but I was happy to have even sold them any music in the first place. Let’s see if I make it into the next film…
This was the first year I was asked to join Zut Alors playing at Burdick Chocolate’s Bastille Day celebration. Playing French musettes with these guys is a blast! This has since become one of my favorite yearly gigs.
During my time in Abu Dhabi I was lucky enough to play with the jazz combo Cool’s the Rule on Fridays at Mood Indigo in the Mercure Hotel. While they already had a piano player, they happily let me sit in for a few tunes each week and I had a blast. With Titus on piano, Dennis on bass, Vlad on sax, Elena on vocals, and either Dominic or Doug on drums, this has been one of my favorite groups to play with ever!
Dennis and I played for the Abu Dhabi Stays auction at the Millenium Hotel. It’s always nice to help the community and give back.
One of the highlights of my time in Abu Dhabi was being asked to join the Abu Dhabi Big Band. I was one of their two pianists for a season and had a great time playing fun music with wonderful people.
